36 1/2 Weeks

Belly Picture 36 1/2 Weeks Along

The "Belly" keeps getting bigger and bigger. The ladies at work keep saying I am just going to topple over one of these days. Davis is obviously a GROWING boy!

Well, it has been so long since we have last updated our blog. Things here are coming down to the wire and we have been SUPER busy!! I cannot believe we only have a few weeks left.

As many of you know, I have been having problems with my feet swelling since about 16 weeks. I was able to get some prescription support hose which were life savers. They really helped keep my swelling under control until about two weeks ago. My swelling was getting so bad that I could not even put on the support hose anymore and my feet were in so much pain. Anyway, I went to the doctor last Friday in a panic, I had gained about 6 pounds in just 4 days which is not normal. My blood pressure, and blood levels were all normal, so it was just due to the water retention and swelling in my feet and legs. I was put on bed rest for the weekend, which is NOT FUN; but it did help with the swelling. I went back to work on Monday and by Wednesday the swelling was back and worse than before. The only way to help it is to elevate my feet and stay off of them. We went back to the doctor today and he said that I can try to work half days next week and then bed rest when I get home and after next week I will be on full bed rest until Davis arrives. I cannot travel much in the car or sit for long periods of time without elevating my feet. For those of you who know me......this will not be easy, I am always on the go or doing something; but now I am having to really take it easy. I guess I should take advantage of that because in a few weeks I WILL NOT be able to do that EVER again!

9 Months Along...
Here is my new spot. I have everything I need here. It took me a while to figure out exactly what I needed, but now I think I got it all figured out. The only thing I have not figured out is how to get out of this contraption; which is a problem since I have to go to the bathroom ALL the time! :)

I can do everything from my new "spot" I can do school work, check email, write thank you cards, read, watch t.v, take a nap....doesn't this sound like a wonderful spot to be. Ignore the fat foot in the picture!

Hershel has been so good to me! He sits with me all day long when Lance is not here. He lays his head on my belly, which I am sure makes a perfect pillow for him. I know he knows something is up, I am not sure he has realized that someone is about to be taking over his house. I hope that he will be Davis' little buddy! We will see what happens.......
I know this is a GROSS picture, but I had to put it in here, so I don't forget what my feet look like. They are actually looking pretty good here believe it or not. I am sure I embarrassed Lance by posting this picture.

I don't know what we would do without our wonderful families and friends. Lance has been so wonderful! He has been cooking, doing laundry, and serving on me from the minute he comes home from work, and putting up with my pregnancy hormones which is hard to do, although, I do think he is exhibiting some pregnancy hormones as well (Is that possible?). I do have to say that he has done a wonderful job, but I did notice that he needs some lessons on how to fold clothes, I looked at the t-shirts he folded and I just sat there and laughed!! I also have to brag on how supportive he has been through this whole pregnancy. He has made it to every doctor appointment and he enjoys going. It means so much to have him always right there by my side. He has been a trooper and attended a child birthing, breastfeeding, and CPR class. He is so excited for Davis to get here. He is going to be the BEST dad!

My mom has been my other saving grace! She has been helping me get everything clean as I am going through my nesting phase. We cleaned out all the kitchen cabinets, cleaned all the baseboards, and blinds, and anything else she saw that needed cleaning. Not only did she help with all of that, but she would get dinner for us and my dad and brother would come over to eat which has been fun. Lance's mom and dad came over last weekend and Lance's mom cooked us dinner and left us with some food to eat during the week. It was nice to see them and be able to visit for the evening. Blake also came over to visit with us, which is always fun. I am not the best about getting help from others, but it really has been so helpful and Lance and I realize how blessed we are to have such supportive families.

Lance went to Destin a few weeks ago for Blake's Bachelor party. I can still not believe that he and Brittany are going to be married on April 4th, it has come so fast. I am excited for them to begin this new venture in their lives. There is nothing like marriage, I LOVE every minute of being married. I am going to have to miss the wedding, which I am totally bummed about! It has always been in the back of my mind, but I kept thinking I would be able to make it........ well, the doctor said that I will not be able to make it because cannot travel that far. Blake is like a brother to me, well I guess he actually is a brother to me, and I have known him since Lance and I started dating which is about 10 years ago, I cannot believe it has been that long!! Now, I just pray that Davis cooperates and comes before or after the wedding date. The guys had a great time in Destin. Here is a picture of them deep sea fishing which they were all excited about, but they all got VERY sick on the boat because the water was so rough. Besides being sick most of the way, they still managed to catch some fish. Seeing these pictures makes me want to go to the beach.

We went back to the doctor today and everything checked out great, besides the swelling. We are just waiting now for Davis to begin to make his arrival. I am packing our bags this weekend and the car seat is in the car, so we are just about ready for him to get here. Our due date is officially April 15th, but the doctors and us are still hoping for an early delivery. We are now going to the doctor each week, so I will update next Friday to let you know how the appointment went.

Thank you for all of your prayers. Please continue to pray for us. Since I am on bed rest, I will definitely be updating the blog more frequently! I have to do something to keep myself occupied. A day in a recliner is a LONG day!

4D Ultrasound--Davis is looking good!

We had a very busy day today. I had my second baby shower. Lance's mom and dad came down for the day. The guys stayed out the house to put up a ceiling fan and fix our stove while the girls went to the shower. We all had a great time. After the shower we went to lunch with both of our families. It was so fun to have everyone there. Then we Lance's parents, my parents, and my brother Justin went to see a 4D ultrasound of Davis.

We had the best time, I could not believe how much Davis had changed since we last had an ultrasound. He has filled out so much. We think he is just beautiful. It was so neat to see him moving around and looking right at the camera. We could see his eyes and mouth open and shut. He kept chewing on the umbilical cord. We could even tell that he had hair which I did not know we would be able to see. So it looks like he has really chubby cheeks and lots of hair.

Our official due date is April 15th, but we were measuring about a week early, April 8th. Well, today we had a little surprise. We were guessing how much Davis weighed. We were all guessing in the 3 pound range........and guess what he weighed.........4 pounds and 7 ounces!! He is measuring 32 and a half weeks right now, which puts him here on March 30th. We have our 32 week ultrasound in a week and a half so we will see what the doctor says.....but I am a little excited that we may get to meet Davis earlier than we thought. I cannot wait for him to get here. But on the other hand, I cannot help and think of all the things Lance and I have to do before he gets here. Continue to pray for a healthy little boy! We are going for our hospital tour tomorrow. We had a wonderful weekend and we know how truly blessed we are with our little gift from God!

Second Baby Shower

This shower was hosted by my friends Lori Bolick and Jane Ramsey. We did a breakfast shower at 9:00 which was perfect. I invited teacher friends from school and parents that I still keep in touch with. It was such a fun shower and good time to catch up with everyone; especially since I am at a new school I do not get to see these friends nearly enough. I had the best time today. Lori and Jane did a fantastic job! The shower was wonderful and the company was perfect.

My mom made this for our shower last week and it was so cute we just had to use it again.

Lori and JanePrecious diaper cake! Lori's mom Peggy made this. I think it is way too cute.

Opening presents.........what a crowd! With all these teachers there was never a quiet moment.

I LOVED this picture frame!!

This was from Lori and Jane. It was so cute. It is a board covered in fabric that matches our curtains. You can use it to put pictures on. They placed all kinds of gift cards to our favorite stores so we can treat ourselves. They even thought of Lance.....he had a golf gift card on there. What a cute idea. :)

My sister in law, Anna, my mom, and my mother in law, Gail. It was so nice to have all of them at the shower today. Family is so important to us. I don't know what we would do without the support of both of our families. We LOVE you all!!

Baby Nursery Update

The nursery is pretty close to being finished. Now all we need is Davis. :) Our bumper is not in the crib because I am getting extenders put on the ties. They were not long enough to tie around the crib. Our friend Janet gave us the letters DAVIS and they matched everything perfectly. The look awesome over the bed!
These are the curtains that Lance's aunt Tricia made for us. Didn't they turn out wonderful. They really brought the whole room together.

I have dreamed of the way my nursery would look forever. I guess kind of like little girls dream of their wedding day forever. The room came out better than my dreams. I LOVE it!! I am so thankful for everyone that helped us put it together. Davis' room was put together with lots of LOVE!

First Baby Shower

Beth Edwards, Susan Foster, Me,
Kelley Warnock, Julie Massey, and Mom
January 31st was our first baby shower for Davis. It was so much fun!! This shower was given by some of my best friends and my mom. Beth Edwards, and Susan Collins were friends from college. Kelley Warnock is a friend I met after college even though we were at Berry College at the same time. Julie Massey is my best friend from high school. Hard to believe that we have kept in touch all these years. It is so important to have great friends, and I have to say Lance and I have been blessed with the best friends ever!! Friends are truly a gift from god. I don't know what you would do without them.

We had a drop in shower from 11 - 1 for family friends and girlfriends from high school and college. It was so nice to see everyone; especially those who I do not get to see too often. Davis received some really nice things........he is already spoiled and he has not even arrived yet. Everyone brought a book to the shower instead of a card. That was my favorite part. I guess that is the teacher in me. Everyone signed their book so now Davis has his own library started. He better LOVE reading!!

Isn't this the cutest cake ever?? This Cake was to DIE for!! First of all it was so cute that no one wanted to eat it; but once we FINALLY cut it we were so glad!! It was wonderful!! Sorry if you left the shower before we cut the cake......you missed out! :)

The cake matches Davis' room decor. :)

Once I brought all the baby stuff home it really hit us that our life is about to change forever. We cannot wait to begin this new chapter in our lives. Thanks to everyone who came and helped with this shower. It was wonderful!

Baby Nursery Update

Our nursery is still in progress, but it is close to being finished. I thought I would post pictures of our progress. I love to decorate and I have dreamed of what the nursery would look like for years, so it was fun to actually put everything together.

Our friend Kelley offered to paint our nursery for us and I was so excited for her to do this! She is such a special friend to us and now we have a constant reminder of her when we are in the nursery. As soon as I found my baby bedding (well, actually my dad found it....way to go Dad!) and the fabric for the curtains, I knew I wanted to go with a simple circle theme. I had in mind what I wanted and Kelley just went from there. She is super talented so I knew whatever whe had in mind would look great! Lance thought I was insulting Kelley's talent by just having her paint circles; so we all had a good laugh about that. She is almost finished, but I thought I would go ahead and post some pictures. I will post some more when the nursery is completely finished.

The circles are blue, and every 4th circle has some chocolate brown to bring in the pattern from our curtains. You can see the curtains below.

Thank you so much Kelley for all your hard work. Lance and I greatly appreciate all you do for us. We know Davis will appreciate it too! We LOVE you!!

This is the glider chair that my mom and dad got for me. I am super excited about this chair. I know that Davis and I will be spending lots of time in this chair! It fits in perfect with the circle theme. :)

Lance's aunt Tricia is making our curtains. They are still in progress, but I thought I would go ahead and post what we had. We are going to have two long panels on each side of the window. The top part is blue linen and then the bottom is the brown fabric with blue and brown circles. I loved how they turned out. Tricia is also making a valence to hang. I can't wait to see what they look like put up; they are really going to pull everything together.

My sister in law, Anna, is painting a canvas with Davis' name on it to put over the crib. It is so neat to have such talented friends and family all have a little part in Davis' room. I know Davis is going to LOVE it!! Stay tuned for more pictures!

29 Week Update

Belly Pictures :)

I cannot believe that this is the 29th week for us!! Time is flying by. April will be here before we know it. I have been feeling wonderful, but I am beginning to have trouble sleeping. Davis is super busy ALL the time, which wakes me up constantly through the night. He moves so much, I hope this is not a sign of how active he will be when he gets here. If so, Lance and I are going to have our hands full!! It is the coolest thing to feel and see him move. Lance and I will just be laying on the couch and you can see my stomach moving all over the place. Davis is sure having some fun in there. Time is sneaking away from us very quickly. We are trying to get everything in order for our little guy to get here. We cannot wait to meet him for the first time!
