5 1/2 Months and Happy as can Be

Here are a few pictures of Davis from today. I am amazed at the new things he does each day. He is such a joy and blessing to us. He keeps us smiling everyday! We couldn't imagine life without our "little buddy". This is Lance's kind of post.......not a lot of details and LOTS of pictures!

"I LOVE baths!"
"Feet taste so good. Have you tried them lately?"

"I don't know why I am pouting here, but I do have to say that is a pretty good pout face!"

"Getting your feet to your mouth is HARD work!"

"I try to put everything I can into my mouth, and I mean EVERYTHING!"

"My daddy is so funny! He is making faces at me while mommy takes my pictures."

"I think I have this spoon thing down perfect, don't you think?"

"Can you see my new tooth?"

"My mommy turned away and I grabbed her snack. I think I could be a Jell-O model, don't you?"

"I don't know what this stuff is, but I want some."

"I love you guys! Have a GREAT day!"

Say A Little Prayer

Since I have started our family blog, I am addicted to reading other family blogs. I just start hopping from one blog to the next. I guess it is sort of my entertainment! Several weeks ago I came across two family blogs that could really use our prayers. I started reading about these families and tears were streaming down my face. Lance was looking like me like I was crazy. Night after night I kept reading their blogs and getting so upset, but I kept coming back to read more. Now, I feel like I know them. Their stories really put all things into perspective. My "little" problems are nothing compared to what these two families are going through. It makes you realize how much you have to be thankful for and how much you have that you take for granted. Every minute is so precious and you never know when those precious moments will be gone. Some things in life just don't seem fair. I know God has a plan, but sometimes his plan is so hard to see. These two families have such strong faith and I don't know how they do it. I don't know how these two moms get out of bed in the morning. If you have time go look at their blogs and just say a prayer that they will continue to have strong faith, comfort, and peace.

The Maxey Family: 5 years ago they lost a child to cancer and they have now just lost another child to cancer. They also have a little boy that has had to experience the loss of two siblings.

The Ramer Family: Through a terrible drowning accident they lost both of their children (twins). I can't imagine losing a child, but I really cannot imagine losing two at the same time. The mother seems to really be struggling with this, understandably so. They have another child on the way.

Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer. I just cannot stop thinking about these two families and I do not even know them. There is not much to do for them except offer up your prayers. I thought you all could pray for them too. Prayer is so powerful! I will post a "happy" post tomorrow, I promise!

Visit With Nana

Lance's mom, Gail, was planning on taking a half a day on Wednesday to come over and see Davis......well then the floods came and ruined that plan. I cannot believe all the damage around us right now. My prayers go out to all the families in need at this time. Such hard times for lots of people! Lance and I kept joking that Gail would come anyway......we thought she would use a canoe to get here if she had to. She would do anything to get to Davis. But......she literally could not get over here for two days. She was finally able to get out of Douglasville on Wednesday evening, so she came over and spent two nights with us and watched Davis on Thursday and Friday. It was so nice to have her come and stay with us. I know Davis had a blast with his Nana and Lance and I were able to relax a little bit more since Davis was taken care of. I even got to go out to dinner with the girls (Kelley, Ashley, and Jackie) on Thursday night. We went to the cutest restaurant in downtown Roswell, The Fickle Pickle. We ate dinner and then went on the porch for live music, talking, and dessert. It was so nice to have some much needed girl time. Thanks for coming to stay with us Gail. We appreciate all you do for us. We are blessed so much by having our families so close to help us. I am so thankful that Davis is able to see his grandparents so much. Families are one of God's greatest blessings!

Have you laughed yet today?

I just had to write this down.......sorry no pictures of Davis, just a funny story. My mom works at Weight Watchers and every meeting she wears a name tag. Well, on Wednesday she went to work and had a ton of other things on her mind (heading out of town and DAVIS!!). Lance and I needed her help Wednesday afternoon and she graciously offered even though she had a TON of other things to be doing. Anyway, she goes to work and writes her name on her name tag and proceeds through all of her meetings. At the end of the day she takes her name tag off and realizes that she has been a wearing a name tag all day that said DAVIS!! So I guess MeMe was Davis for the day! I could not stop laughing at this story. I need to take a picture of her with her Davis name tag on. I am sure someone had to notice they were just to nice to mention it to her. So Funny!! Thank for making me laugh mom! I LOVE you!!

I am in CONTROL now!

It looks like Lance will have a little competition with the remote tonight! Davis is now fascinated with remote controls. I guess he growing up to be a TYPICAL man! I think Davis will win control of the remote.....he is just TOO cute. I let him have total control of the remote all day today. That may change when Daddy comes home. :)

Happy Birthday Opa!

Me, Lance & Davis

Opa, Davis & MeMe

Davis trying to jump on the table.

We went out to dinner tonight to celebrate my dad's birthday. Dinner was awesome and then we went to mom and dad's house for cake. The cake was delicious!! Davis was so good at the restaurant. He just sat in his car seat and looked around. He got a little fussy at the end of dinner just because he wanted to get out of his car seat. Lance took him out, and he just started jumping. He just started using his jumperoo and now he thinks he is always in a jumperoo. He tries to jump ALL of the time.
We were on a TIGHT schedule tonight because we had to get back in time for the Georgia game. During football season, everything revolves around the Georgia Bulldogs for Lance. Each year, I say I am going to be more of a TRUE Georgia fan and learn more about the game of football and every year I seem to find other things to do during the Georgia games. That seems to still be the case this year.............right now, Lance is watching the game, and I am catching up on my blogging and napping. I know I am going to have to eventually learn more about football since I am going to have two Georgia Fans (Lance and Davis) in the house......but I still have a little more time.

Rice Cereal Here We Come!!

Davis tried rice cereal for the first time last week. He was very interested in it for about 2 minutes and then he thought he had better things to be doing. He had fun and made a BIG mess!
"This stuff looks interesting, let's give it a try."

"I am not sure about this Mom. Are you sure I am supposed to like this?"
My First Bite
"That was pretty good. Can I have another bite?"

I am Five Months Old

Dear Family and Friends,

I am five months old today and I am doing great! I am growing up so fast. Everyone is amazed at how vocal I am. I wish they knew what I was saying because it is very important stuff. All I want to do these days is KEEP MOVING! I like to sit, stand, and jump as much as possible. I really wish I could just crawl, but I guess I am not ready for that yet. Here are some highlights of my month:
  • I weigh 15.6 pounds.
  • I wear 6-9 month clothes.
  • I am very strong and still like to stand up as much as I can.
  • I started rice cereal. I like it ok, but I think I would rather just have a steak.
  • My first tooth is coming in.
  • I drool all of the time and always have to wear a bib.
  • I spent my first night away from mommy and daddy. My Nana, PaPa and Great Grandma came to stay with my while my mommy and daddy went to a wedding in Rome, Georgia.
  • I LOVE to jump in the Jumperoo!
  • When I stand up, I stomp my feet and try to jump.
  • I laugh out loud.
  • I LOVE when my daddy tickles me.
  • My favorite time is the morning.
  • I am ALWAYS happy except when I am tired or hungry.
  • I can sit with very little help.
  • I am very social and love to be around people.
  • I squeal all of the time.
  • I have started my fake cough again. It really gets every one's attention.
  • I am still sucking on my toes and thumb and I love my pacifier.
  • I smile ALL of the time.
  • I love to watch Hershel.

I cannot believe how fast time goes by. I am looking forward to the next three months, I hear I have LOTS to look forward to. I have Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas on the way and I cannot wait. Next month I am going to go to my first pumpkin farm. I will post pictures of my adventures soon.

Love You!

Davis

Hershel really wanted is five month picture taken too. He has to do everything I do.

First Tooth

Well, Davis has had signs of teething for a while now, but I thought it would still be a while before his teeth started coming in. He has been drooling a TON and putting everything he can right into his mouth. The last couple of weeks he has been biting down on his fingers and anything else he can get in his mouth. My mom spotted the white speck on his front bottom gum. I was thinking surely this is not a tooth already.........but she was right it is definitely a tooth and we have one not so happy camper. He is doing pretty good, but he is a little crankier than normal and wants to be held a lot. You can tell he is just not very comfortable. He also has a stuffy nose and a diaper rash both of which he has never had. I heard this could be because of the teething.

I know all you moms out there have all the tricks......help me please!!

Any teething tips?

Any diaper rash tips?

He turns 5 months old on Tuesday, he is growing up way too fast. Boy, does the time go by quick. Lance and I are just loving every minute we have with this little guy. We are both smiling and laughing every minute we are with him. He is such a blessing to us. We never knew we could love another person so much.

Okay, who put him in a diaper bag.......that would be his Dad!

We love his little smiles. He has the cutest personality.

Dinner with the Eades and Lumpkins

We are having a great long weekend. It is so nice not to have to go to work on Monday. We were going to go to the beach but we decided to stay here to save money and get some things done. It has been nice just having family time at the house. We went to church this morning and put Davis in the nursery again. His teachers said he was so happy. They said he did a lot of talking today. The Eades and the Lumpkins came over to our house for dinner tonight. It was so good to get together with everyone. I know Davis LOVED seeing his girlfriend Ella. Davis has quite a few little girlfriends. I have to brag on Lance. He cooked a great chicken casserole dish and it was great! I am always scared to try new recipes; especially with company coming over, but it turned out perfect. We need to try new recipes more often. Lance is really getting to be a great cook. I have to admit he is WAY better than me at cooking.

Judith, Kim, Me, Davis and Ella
Ella and Davis smiled at each other. Davis of course did his high pitched squeals all evening long. I can't wait for them to get older and they can run around and play together. It is hard to believe how much they have changed in just a couple of months. I think Ella may be bigger than Davis now.
Davis kept trying to grab Ella's feet and hands.

Go Georgia Bulldogs!!

Well, it is official, football season has begun and that is one exciting day for Lance. He has looked forward to this day for a long time. And now, he has a little buddy to watch the GA games with him. Davis slept for 12 hours last night, so he woke up ready for football this morning. Here are a few pictures of him in his Georgia Game Day clothes. He is a true fan already at the age of 4 1/2 months.
Getting mentally prepared for the game!
Waiting in anticipation for "Kick Off"

Davis cheering at the first touchdown!

I LOVE the Georgia Bulldogs, even though they did lose today. My daddy was not a happy camper after the GA game, but one look at me and he was smiling again! I make everyone so happy!!

Walk at the Greenway
I am not a huge football person, I usually take LOTS of naps during football season, but that will not be happening this year since we have little Davis to worry about. Today, Davis and I met my mom, dad, and brother to go for a walk on the Greenway which is a beautiful trail that just opened up by our house. Eventually it will be connecting to our neighborhood which will be so nice. We took a nice long walk. The Greenway was very pretty, and we even past some cows in the pasture. Davis will LOVE this when he gets a little older. Today, he pretty much slept the whole time we were walking. This was a good thing because he did not nap at all today. I guess he was so excited about the GA game, he couldn't sleep.

Look how long Davis' legs are getting!!

Lance and Davis watching the end of the GA game. This was not a happy sight to watch!!

Davis has started to really pay attention to real food. He really wants my popsicle.

Since he could not have a popsicle, he decided to eat his toes instead.
