5 1/2 Months and Happy as can Be
Here are a few pictures of Davis from today. I am amazed at the new things he does each day. He is such a joy and blessing to us. He keeps us smiling everyday! We couldn't imagine life without our "little buddy". This is Lance's kind of post.......not a lot of details and LOTS of pictures!
"I LOVE baths!"
"Feet taste so good. Have you tried them lately?"
"I don't know why I am pouting here, but I do have to say that is a pretty good pout face!"

Say A Little Prayer
Since I have started our family blog, I am addicted to reading other family blogs. I just start hopping from one blog to the next. I guess it is sort of my entertainment! Several weeks ago I came across two family blogs that could really use our prayers. I started reading about these families and tears were streaming down my face. Lance was looking like me like I was crazy. Night after night I kept reading their blogs and getting so upset, but I kept coming back to read more. Now, I feel like I know them. Their stories really put all things into perspective. My "little" problems are nothing compared to what these two families are going through. It makes you realize how much you have to be thankful for and how much you have that you take for granted. Every minute is so precious and you never know when those precious moments will be gone. Some things in life just don't seem fair. I know God has a plan, but sometimes his plan is so hard to see. These two families have such strong faith and I don't know how they do it. I don't know how these two moms get out of bed in the morning. If you have time go look at their blogs and just say a prayer that they will continue to have strong faith, comfort, and peace.
The Maxey Family: 5 years ago they lost a child to cancer and they have now just lost another child to cancer. They also have a little boy that has had to experience the loss of two siblings.

The Ramer Family: Through a terrible drowning accident they lost both of their children (twins). I can't imagine losing a child, but I really cannot imagine losing two at the same time. The mother seems to really be struggling with this, understandably so. They have another child on the way.

Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer. I just cannot stop thinking about these two families and I do not even know them. There is not much to do for them except offer up your prayers. I thought you all could pray for them too. Prayer is so powerful! I will post a "happy" post tomorrow, I promise!

Visit With Nana
Lance's mom, Gail, was planning on taking a half a day on Wednesday to come over and see Davis......well then the floods came and ruined that plan. I cannot believe all the damage around us right now. My prayers go out to all the families in need at this time. Such hard times for lots of people! Lance and I kept joking that Gail would come anyway......we thought she would use a canoe to get here if she had to. She would do anything to get to Davis. But......she literally could not get over here for two days. She was finally able to get out of Douglasville on Wednesday evening, so she came over and spent two nights with us and watched Davis on Thursday and Friday. It was so nice to have her come and stay with us. I know Davis had a blast with his Nana and Lance and I were able to relax a little bit more since Davis was taken care of. I even got to go out to dinner with the girls (Kelley, Ashley, and Jackie) on Thursday night. We went to the cutest restaurant in downtown Roswell, The Fickle Pickle. We ate dinner and then went on the porch for live music, talking, and dessert. It was so nice to have some much needed girl time. Thanks for coming to stay with us Gail. We appreciate all you do for us. We are blessed so much by having our families so close to help us. I am so thankful that Davis is able to see his grandparents so much. Families are one of God's greatest blessings!
Have you laughed yet today?
I just had to write this down.......sorry no pictures of Davis, just a funny story. My mom works at Weight Watchers and every meeting she wears a name tag. Well, on Wednesday she went to work and had a ton of other things on her mind (heading out of town and DAVIS!!). Lance and I needed her help Wednesday afternoon and she graciously offered even though she had a TON of other things to be doing. Anyway, she goes to work and writes her name on her name tag and proceeds through all of her meetings. At the end of the day she takes her name tag off and realizes that she has been a wearing a name tag all day that said DAVIS!! So I guess MeMe was Davis for the day! I could not stop laughing at this story. I need to take a picture of her with her Davis name tag on. I am sure someone had to notice they were just to nice to mention it to her. So Funny!! Thank for making me laugh mom! I LOVE you!!

I am in CONTROL now!
It looks like Lance will have a little competition with the remote tonight! Davis is now fascinated with remote controls. I guess he growing up to be a TYPICAL man! I think Davis will win control of the remote.....he is just TOO cute. I let him have total control of the remote all day today. That may change when Daddy comes home. :)

Happy Birthday Opa!
We went out to dinner tonight to celebrate my dad's birthday. Dinner was awesome and then we went to mom and dad's house for cake. The cake was delicious!! Davis was so good at the restaurant. He just sat in his car seat and looked around. He got a little fussy at the end of dinner just because he wanted to get out of his car seat. Lance took him out, and he just started jumping. He just started using his jumperoo and now he thinks he is always in a jumperoo. He tries to jump ALL of the time.
We were on a TIGHT schedule tonight because we had to get back in time for the Georgia game. During football season, everything revolves around the Georgia Bulldogs for Lance. Each year, I say I am going to be more of a TRUE Georgia fan and learn more about the game of football and every year I seem to find other things to do during the Georgia games. That seems to still be the case this year.............right now, Lance is watching the game, and I am catching up on my blogging and napping. I know I am going to have to eventually learn more about football since I am going to have two Georgia Fans (Lance and Davis) in the house......but I still have a little more time.
Rice Cereal Here We Come!!
Davis tried rice cereal for the first time last week. He was very interested in it for about 2 minutes and then he thought he had better things to be doing. He had fun and made a BIG mess!

I am Five Months Old
Dear Family and Friends,
I am five months old today and I am doing great! I am growing up so fast. Everyone is amazed at how vocal I am. I wish they knew what I was saying because it is very important stuff. All I want to do these days is KEEP MOVING! I like to sit, stand, and jump as much as possible. I really wish I could just crawl, but I guess I am not ready for that yet. Here are some highlights of my month:

All I want to do these days is KEEP MOVING! I like to sit, stand, and jump as much as possible. I really wish I could just crawl, but I guess I am not ready for that yet. Here are some highlights of my month:
- I weigh 15.6 pounds.
- I wear 6-9 month clothes.
- I am very strong and still like to stand up as much as I can.
- I started rice cereal. I like it ok, but I think I would rather just have a steak.
- My first tooth is coming in.
- I drool all of the time and always have to wear a bib.
- I spent my first night away from mommy and daddy. My Nana, PaPa and Great Grandma came to stay with my while my mommy and daddy went to a wedding in Rome, Georgia.
- I LOVE to jump in the Jumperoo!
- When I stand up, I stomp my feet and try to jump.
- I laugh out loud.
- I LOVE when my daddy tickles me.
- My favorite time is the morning.
- I am ALWAYS happy except when I am tired or hungry.
- I can sit with very little help.
- I am very social and love to be around people.
- I squeal all of the time.
- I have started my fake cough again. It really gets every one's attention.
- I am still sucking on my toes and thumb and I love my pacifier.
- I smile ALL of the time.
- I love to watch Hershel.
I cannot believe how fast time goes by. I am looking forward to the next three months, I hear I have LOTS to look forward to. I have Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas on the way and I cannot wait. Next month I am going to go to my first pumpkin farm. I will post pictures of my adventures soon.
Love You!

First Tooth
Well, Davis has had signs of teething for a while now, but I thought it would still be a while before his teeth started coming in. He has been drooling a TON and putting everything he can right into his mouth. The last couple of weeks he has been biting down on his fingers and anything else he can get in his mouth. My mom spotted the white speck on his front bottom gum. I was thinking surely this is not a tooth already.........but she was right it is definitely a tooth and we have one not so happy camper. He is doing pretty good, but he is a little crankier than normal and wants to be held a lot. You can tell he is just not very comfortable. He also has a stuffy nose and a diaper rash both of which he has never had. I heard this could be because of the teething.
I know all you moms out there have all the tricks......help me please!!
Any teething tips?
Any diaper rash tips?
He turns 5 months old on Tuesday, he is growing up way too fast. Boy, does the time go by quick. Lance and I are just loving every minute we have with this little guy. We are both smiling and laughing every minute we are with him. He is such a blessing to us. We never knew we could love another person so much.

Dinner with the Eades and Lumpkins
We are having a great long weekend. It is so nice not to have to go to work on Monday. We were going to go to the beach but we decided to stay here to save money and get some things done. It has been nice just having family time at the house. We went to church this morning and put Davis in the nursery again. His teachers said he was so happy. They said he did a lot of talking today. The Eades and the Lumpkins came over to our house for dinner tonight. It was so good to get together with everyone. I know Davis LOVED seeing his girlfriend Ella. Davis has quite a few little girlfriends. I have to brag on Lance. He cooked a great chicken casserole dish and it was great! I am always scared to try new recipes; especially with company coming over, but it turned out perfect. We need to try new recipes more often. Lance is really getting to be a great cook. I have to admit he is WAY better than me at cooking.
Ella and Davis smiled at each other. Davis of course did his high pitched squeals all evening long. I can't wait for them to get older and they can run around and play together. It is hard to believe how much they have changed in just a couple of months. I think Ella may be bigger than Davis now.
Davis kept trying to grab Ella's feet and hands.

Go Georgia Bulldogs!!
Well, it is official, football season has begun and that is one exciting day for Lance. He has looked forward to this day for a long time. And now, he has a little buddy to watch the GA games with him. Davis slept for 12 hours last night, so he woke up ready for football this morning. Here are a few pictures of him in his Georgia Game Day clothes. He is a true fan already at the age of 4 1/2 months.
Getting mentally prepared for the game!
Waiting in anticipation for "Kick Off"

Davis cheering at the first touchdown!
I LOVE the Georgia Bulldogs, even though they did lose today. My daddy was not a happy camper after the GA game, but one look at me and he was smiling again! I make everyone so happy!!
Walk at the Greenway
Walk at the Greenway
I am not a huge football person, I usually take LOTS of naps during football season, but that will not be happening this year since we have little Davis to worry about. Today, Davis and I met my mom, dad, and brother to go for a walk on the Greenway which is a beautiful trail that just opened up by our house. Eventually it will be connecting to our neighborhood which will be so nice. We took a nice long walk. The Greenway was very pretty, and we even past some cows in the pasture. Davis will LOVE this when he gets a little older. Today, he pretty much slept the whole time we were walking. This was a good thing because he did not nap at all today. I guess he was so excited about the GA game, he couldn't sleep.

Blog for August
I did not realize that I actually had blog readers. All our friends keep asking where the updates are. It was nice to see that some people actually do keep up with our blog so I guess I am not writing all of this for nothing! I realize it is now September and I have not written one blog entry for August. Well, here is a month in review from the Cones. The blog entry is below all the pictures. I wrote first and then loaded the pictures.......I was not thinking correctly. It is a long entry and I am sure there are tons of typos.....no time for proofreading.........I will just go ahead and warn you.
Davis' First Birthday Party
Ava had a princess party, they let Davis be a prince. Ava was turning one and she is as precious as they get. She was just walking around like a little princess. She is so tiny, she looked like she was just floating around the house. Davis is usually so good, but not at this birthday party. He puked (and I mean puked) all over Martha's nice floor as soon as we got there. I had just handed him off to Gail so I did not get thrown up on for once. I am sure she didn't mind the throw up. :) Then he cried and cried. We tried to lay him down and that did not work. He was just so upset and we could tell he did not feel good. So we stayed for about an hour and then left. We had a good time while it lasted. It was nice to see the Duvalls, Cottles, Parmers, and Prices. Ava, I am sorry Davis was such a party pooper. He will be better next year I promise!
The grandmas have been waiting to get a picture with all of them and the grand babies.
Charlie loves to give Davis kisses. He is so sweet!!
Since we were in Douglasville, we decided to go and visit Jenn and Derek. We have not seen them in a while. Their little baby Tayler will be making her arrival in August, so we wanted to see them one last time before she arrived. We took Davis and he was a little better at their house, but he was still pretty fussy. Poor little guy was not having a good day. I did not take any pictures because I was too busy trying to keep Davis calm. While Davis was laying down, Derek was talking to Davis. He was asking if Tayler was going to be his girlfriend and Davis would coo at him. It was so cute. We also asked Davis if he was going to marry Tayler and he cooed again. We should have got it on video it was precious. Then Derek told Davis that he was only aloud to hold Tayler's hand and Davis laughed and laughed. It was almost like he knew what we were saying. We will see what happens....... Davis definitely has a lot of options since all our friends are having little girls.
The Warnocks
These pictures got split up, so there is a few more of the Warnocks below. This weekend we went to visit Casey and Kelley and had the best time. Davis loves his Uncle Casey and Aunt Kelley. Davis did lots of talking and when we stopped paying attention to him he squealed at us. He wanted all eyes on him!
Davis loves looking at people. I love how he is looking at Casey in this picture.
Katie and Mike's Baby Shower
Katie and Mike are having a boy, so atleast there is one boy out there for Davis to hang out with. We had a fun time catching up with old friends from college. Fun Times!
More pictures from the Warnocks
Aunt Karen (AKA WaWa (she hates that Lance and Blake call her this!!) came to visit from Washington D.C. It was so nice to see her and have her meet Davis for the first time.
I love Kisses from Davis!
While Jane had curriculum night, we watched Mason. Mason is in third grade and Lance and I have so much fun watching him. He is so good! He loved Davis and Davis loved him. He laughed and smiled at Mason all night. Mason's middle name is Davis so they have a little connection.
Just getting home from church. We have started to put Davis in the church nursery the past two Sundays. He has been so good and we love his teachers. When Lance and I picked him up today they told us that Davis had met a girlfriend. They took a walk in the big stroller with all the kiddos and they said Davis and the little girl gazed at each other the whole time. I think some of the girls out there may be a little jealous!
Every Monday I go and tutor for the Bolicks. Lori has been so nice to watch Davis for me while I tutor the kids. Davis loves going to Lori's on Mondays. This Monday she took pictures of him. Last Monday she let Davis type me a little message on her lap top. Thanks Lori for watching him. I greatly appreciate it and so does Davis!

Davis and Lori
I know many of you are wondering where we have been. Some of you don't care, you just want to see pictures of Davis. We are still here and we are all doing well. I have started back to work which has kept me super busy and has put our blog on the back burner. I was planning on starting back to work full time September 15th, but we had a slight change in plans. I had the opportunity to job share my position with another teacher. I was so excited about this opportunity but not sure if it would work out. Everything worked out perfectly and Lance and I decided this would be best for our family at this time. I work everday from 7:45 - 11:45. I am home with Davis in my arms by noon everyday with a BIG smile on my face. Since I am only working 4 hours a day I decided to go ahead and go back to work at the beginning of the school year. Our neighbor, Mrs. Tina, is keeping Davis each day. My mom is keeping him every other Tuesday. My mom is also watching him for a couple hours on Thursdays so I can get some tutoring in. We are so blessed to have family so close that can help us out. I am loving working part time............but I am not loving the tight budget we have been put on............but is is soooooooo worth it to have extra time with Davis everyday. Lance has us doing an envelope budget (He is so excited about this budget......in a giddy way; I have no idea how you can be this excited about a budget.) and it has been working out great.......until........he went out of town........I got everything messed up.......go figure. Of course I had my mad money envelope spent the first week of the month. We are trying to plan out meals which has helped save a lot of money as well as repeated trips to the store. Anyone have any good coupon websites? My next goal is to start using coupons. Being a mom has really opened my eyes to how busy moms are. I had visions in my head of getting so much stuff done since I am only working part time.........well those visions are not coming true. I still have never ending laundry, dirty dishes, no groceries, dirty bathrooms, dirty floors, dirty dog etc.........but I do have one happy little family which is worth everything. I guess that is part of being a mom. Everytime I think I am caught up it all piles up again. It is a never ending job and we only have one child. I am thankful for a loving husband who has really stepped it up. He has been doing all the grocery shopping, cooking, of course keeping our envelope budget organized, keeping up with Hershel (I am so focused on Davis......I sometimes forget that we have a dog) and even some cleaning. I LOVE you Lance!!
For the update on Davis.....read his 4th month letter. Sorry these posts are so long and detailed. Lance always tells me I write way too much, but this is sort of a journal for me to record our lives. I found a website that turns blogs into books so I am going to do this once a year and have a journal of our year. I am not a big scrapbooker so this will serve as my scrapbook.

I am Four Months Old
Sorry, I am a little late getting my monthly letter out. I turned 4 months on August 14, 2009. Boy, have things been busy around my house. My mom started back to work and she does not have as much time to keep this blog updated. I kept telling her I needed to get my letter out and finally she let me do it. I had a busy month and am doing so many new things. I am still loving the life of a baby. It is so great to be so loved and spoiled. I get catered to everyday. Everyone kisses and hugs me a thousand times a day and I hear over and over again how cute I am. I guess everyone likes me!
My mom started working and I have been staying with Mrs. Tina. She lives across the street from me. I am the only child she keeps; so once again I get lots of attention from her. I am always happy to get there in the morning and I am happy when my mom picks me up each day. My mom is home by noon everyday so the time goes by really fast. I like having my mom get home early each day. We get to spend the afternoons together and that has been so fun!! My MeMe is keeping me every other Tuesday. I love going to MeMe and Opa's. My Opa has been working from home so I get to spend time with him on Tuesdays too. Sometimes my Uncle Justin is there so I get to see him as well. My Nana and Papa have been visiting me lots. I love seeing my grandparents. This month I got to spend a day with my Great Grandma Cone and my Aunt Karen. Aunt Karen came all the way from Washington D.C.
At my 4 month doctor appointment they said that I was very healthy. I hadn't gained much weight since my last appointment. I am now in the 34th percentile, but the doctor was not concerned since I am developing fine. I am 25.25 inches tall which is in the 64th percentile. I go back in one month for a weight check. I have been having some problems with my skin. I have really bad Eczema and it is not getting better. My mom and dad have tried everything and it keeps coming back. The doctor thinks I may have food allergies. I have to wait until I am 6 months old to be tested, but for now I am on steroid creams and my mom is trying to take things out of her diet that I may be allergic to. She has taken out all dairy so we will see if that helps. We go back in one month to assess the progress.
Highlights From Month Four:
- I can roll over but I prefer to sit and stand up.
- I can sit up for 7 seconds all by myself.
- I love to hold onto mom and daddy's hands and stand up.
- When I lay down, I try to sit up. It looks like I am trying to do sit ups. I am so strong.
- I am ticklish all over.
- I laugh out loud.
- I have started to try to talk and I do this ALL of the time. It really looks and sounds like I am trying to say words. So far, I love to say dadadadadada.
- I squeal at the top of my lungs when I am standing up and see myself in a mirror.
- I am sleeping 10 - 12 hours at night.
- I am drinking 8 ounce bottles.
- I rub my eyes and scratch my head when I get tired.
- I try to suck on my toes.
- I suck my fingers and my thumbs.
- I put everything I can in my mouth and I chew on EVERYTHING!
- I like to play in my Exersaucer and sit in my Bumbo seat.
- I love to take baths! I wiggle and jump all over the place while squealing and laughing at the top of my lungs. I move so much all the water pours out of my bathtub.
- I weigh 14 pounds.
- I am wearing 6 month clothes.
- I am napping a little better than month three.
- I have Eczema on my skin and it is NOT fun!! My mom has to put medicine on my that really stings. Notice I said mom. I don't think my dad wants to be associated with my pain. He sits on the sidelines and comforts me and says, "Davis, I am sorry mommy hurt you like that......" I also noticed that he had mom hold me down while I got my shots. I am beginning to notice a pattern here..........
- I still have really LOUD toots and poops.
- I like to try to pet Hershel. Sometimes I grab his ears. I laugh when he kisses me.
- I get excited to see daddy when he comes home from work.
- I am recognizing faces and smile when I see people I know.
- I am really happy and easy going.
- I met a new girlfriend at church.
I had another good month and I am looking forward to month five.
Love to you all!
Davis
